Co-Codamol 8mg/500mg Caplets

Co-codamol 8mg/500mg tablets are used for the short-term relief of acute, moderate pain that has not been controlled by standard painkillers such as paracetamol, ibuprofen, or aspirin alone. They can help with headaches, migraines, dental pain, period pain, backache, muscular aches, rheumatic pain, and neuralgia.

Each tablet contains two pain-relieving ingredients:

• Paracetamol 500mg – helps relieve pain and reduce fever.

• Codeine phosphate 8mg – an opioid painkiller that acts on the central nervous system to reduce pain signals.

Together, they provide stronger relief than paracetamol alone.

How to take:

• Adults and children over 12 years: take 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed.

• Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.

• Always leave at least 4 hours between doses.

• Not suitable for children under 12 years.

• Do not use for longer than 3 days without medical advice, as codeine can cause addiction if taken continuously.

Precautions:

• Do not take if you are allergic to paracetamol, codeine, or any of the ingredients.

• Avoid if you have breathing problems, chronic constipation, or severe liver, kidney, or heart disease.

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

• May cause drowsiness — avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.

• Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you are taking other medicines, especially anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin), sedatives, antidepressants, or other painkillers.

• Do not take with other paracetamol-containing products.
