Co-Codamol 8mg/500mg effervescent tablets (Pack of 32)

Co-codamol 8mg/500mg effervescent tablets combine two pain-relieving ingredients: codeine (an opioid) and paracetamol. They are used for the short-term relief of acute moderate pain that has not been controlled by paracetamol, ibuprofen, or aspirin alone. Co-codamol can help with headaches, migraines, dental pain, period pain, neuralgia, muscular aches, and rheumatic pain.

Codeine works in the brain and spinal cord to reduce the way pain signals are felt, while paracetamol helps block pain messages and lowers fever. Together, they provide stronger relief than either medicine taken on its own.

How to take: Adults and children over 12 years can usually take 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed for pain. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. Always leave at least 4 hours between doses and avoid taking other paracetamol-containing products at the same time. Not suitable for children under 12 years.

Precautions:

• Do not take if you are allergic to paracetamol, codeine, or other ingredients in the tablets.

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

• May cause drowsiness — avoid driving or using machinery until you know how it affects you.

• Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine.

• Co-codamol can cause addiction if taken continuously for more than 3 days. Only use for the shortest time necessary.

• Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you are taking other medicines, especially blood thinners (e.g. warfarin), sedatives, or antidepressants.
